Housing and Environmental Design Studio / Laboratory is specializing FIELD ARCHITECTURE, RE-DSIGN OF THE COMMUNITY, CONSERVATION OF CULTURAL LANDSCAPE, in School of Architecture, Shibaura Institute of Technology Tokyo. The Lab. aims at understanding interaction between architecture and human being especially focusing on vernacular ways of housing and dwelling world wide and presenting the new ways how to make use of it in the current context and for the further sustainable development of the community.

チェンマイ県の農村における居住文化の研究、伝統的居住文化を利用した村落活性化事業 Integrated ethnographic-architectural study of housing and dwelling culture in agricultural village of Chiang Mai, Thailand and kick off the activation project of the village by using housing and dwelling culture.
9月17日に、タイの首都バンコクから北部の古都チェンマイに移動し、チェンマイ大学建築学部と芸術学部の先生がたと、メージェム郡の北タイ人の農村、サンパトーン郡のクーンの農村で共同調査をしました。
サンパトーンでは、トヨタ財団からの資金援助により、古民家を利用した村落活性化事業に取り組むことになりました。
