Housing and Environmental Design Studio / Laboratory is specializing FIELD ARCHITECTURE, RE-DSIGN OF THE COMMUNITY, CONSERVATION OF CULTURAL LANDSCAPE, in School of Architecture, Shibaura Institute of Technology Tokyo. The Lab. aims at understanding interaction between architecture and human being especially focusing on vernacular ways of housing and dwelling world wide and presenting the new ways how to make use of it in the current context and for the further sustainable development of the community.

宮崎県椎葉村における居住文化調査 The study of the architecture and landscape in Shiba village of Miyazaki prefecture
研究室では、2012年から椎葉村の居住文化調査を継続してきました。この研究の目的は、耳川流域の居住文化を上流の椎葉村から河口の美々津まで、地政学的単位に惑わされずに総体的に把握すること、および焼畑や狩猟採集に代表される独特の生業と関わり合いながら、居住空間がどのように組織されているかをあきらかにすること、を目的としています。
今年で、小崎地区の調査はひとまず終了となります。教育長の取り計らいで、次年度は松尾地区で新たに研究を立ち上げることになりました。
