[Workshop] Tokyo Re-design Workshop
2024年6月20日から30日にかけて、芝浦工業大学、シンガポール国立大学、東京理科大学の3大学合同で国際ワークショップが開催された。かつて都内には数多くの銭湯が存在していたが、現在では1968年のピーク時と比べて約5分の1にまで減少している。そこで、本ワークショップでは、減少しつつある銭湯文化に焦点を当て、新たな銭湯施設の設計課題に取り組んだ。学生は各大学混合の6グループに分かれ、足立区と墨田区にある銭湯を対象にグループワークを行い、最終日には成果発表を実施した。期間中には、各大学の教員やゲスト講師によるレクチャーも行われ、専門的な学びを深める貴重な機会となった。
From June 20 to 30, 2024, Shibaura Institute of Technology, the National University of Singapore, and Tokyo University of Science jointly hosted an international workshop. While Tokyo once had a large number of public bathhouses (sento), their numbers have declined to about one-fifth of the peak levels seen in 1968. In response to this cultural shift, the workshop focused on the design of new sento facilities as a way to revitalize the declining bathhouse culture. Students were divided into six interdisciplinary groups, composed of participants from all three universities, and tasked with designing proposals for sento located in the Adachi and Sumida wards. The final presentations were delivered on the last day of the workshop. Throughout the event, faculty members and guest lecturers provided expert insights, offering participants a valuable opportunity to deepen their knowledge and engage with the cultural and architectural challenges posed by the sento tradition.
